Nestled high in the 58,000 acres of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Walk only a short distance over a fine woodland trail or the ADA access trail to the escarpment and view the entire reach of the Lake of the Clouds hundreds of feet below. Over 80 miles of marked hiking trails provide enchanting scenery at every bend. Trails include four secluded lakes, waterfalls, and high surrounding peaks. In every season, the "Porkies" are a wilderness retreat.Commune with nature, but rest assured that modern conveniences are nearby. Some of the Midwest's finest alpine and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, swimming, and rockhounding may be enjoyed in the "Porkies" areas.
A new visitors' center off the South Boundary Road acquaints people with the features and activities of the entire park. There is a mini-museum and a multi-media presentation in a theater. The visitors center will enhance your enjoyment of the "Porkies." Climb the Lookout Tower at Summit Peak. Fine dining/lodging facilities are available in the immediate area.
