6th Annual Native American Festival

Please join us as we celebrate our Native Heritage. This 6th Annual event will be hosted on the on the grounds of the Museum of Ojibwa Culture. The festival schedule offers a variety of ceremonies, workshops, and traditional entertainment free of charge. Ojibwa artists will demonstrate the making of black ash baskets and the tanning of hide using traditional methods. Teachings will include topics like the significance of the sacred pipe, sacred medicines, and Ojibwa regalia.

Fort Mackinac Memorial Day Observance

Michigan Governor's Summer Residence Tours

Explore the Governor’s Summer Residence on Mackinac Island each Wednesday from June 1 to August 31. Built in 1902 as a private summer cottage by Lawrence A. Young, it has served as the Governor’s summer Residence since 1945. The residence was listed in the Michigan Register of Historic Places in October 1975. In November 1997, the house was named to the National Register of Historic Places, the official list of America’s most historic buildings and sites. Throughout this free tour, which lasts approximately 15 minutes, experienced docents will guide small groups through the first floor of the home.

21st Annual Antiques on the Bay Classic & Antique Car Show

The first of three auto-related events features original and restored classic and antique vehicles on display along the downtown waterfront. Entertainment and autos dating 25 years or older are all part of the fun. Registration and a Mackinac Bridge Rally are slated for Friday, with autos on display in the City Marina parking lot bordering the Lake Huron waterfront all day Saturday.

Soo Locks Engineer's Weekend

Great Lakes Relay

Location: St Ignace to Tahquamenon Falls
Running entirely in the Upper Peninsula: Day 1 will start in St. Ignace and finish at Tahquamenon Falls using rail trails and the North Country Trail. Day 2 will be a loop course starting at Tahquamenon Falls, running backs roads and parts of the NCT to Grand Marais where we will turn and return to Tahquamenon Falls via the NCT. Day 3 will be a shorter day using the NCT and rail trails and finish at the waterfront park in St. Ignace.Be sure to check their website for conference specifics.

With our event being held on the city dock you are surrounded on three sides by the beautiful blue waters of Lake Huron, with Mackinac Island as a backdrop! The Pub Runners will entertain you from 4:00-7:00pm, and the Whitmore 4 Band will get you rockin' from 7:00-10:00pm

45th Annual Sault Summer Arts Festival

Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow

This fun-filled evening will have something for everyone! As you stroll along the streets in downtown St. Ignace on a Friday night you will see a variety of activities to watch and/or participate in. The Museum of Ojibwa Culture will have Native American drumming and singing by the Grandmother Moon Singers. In addition, the Museum will offer children's crafts from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The museums are a perfect place to talk about how unique St. Ignace is, one of the few places in America that the Native Americans are still in the place where they were when the Europeans came. The Michilimackinac Historical Society will present Fort de Buade Museum & Galleries, featuring rare historic artifacts and unique art collections.

Fireworks Over The Bay!

Outdoor Movies By The Bay!

60th Annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk

Location: Mackinac Bridge
Join thousands of walkers and make the five-mile trek across the Mighty Mackinac Bridge! This annual trek occurs on Labor Day, the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace until 2:30 p.m. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. No one will be permitted to start walking after 11:00 a.m.





To alleviate some of the parking congestion at the Bridge View Park area, the Mackinac Bridge Authority, in cooperation with the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, is providing FREE shuttle service from Little Bear East Arena, 275 Marquette Street in St. Ignace, to the bridge walk start line. Shuttles will make continuous circuits from Little Bear East Arena to the Bridge View Park and back between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For more information visit www.stignace.com

Owosso Tractor Parts Antique Tractor Parade & Show

Antique Tractor Parade on Mackinac Bridge beginning at 9:00 a.m. - tractors will stage in Mackinaw City and cross the bridge to St. Ignace. Hundreds of tractors will make this crossing!! Club Membership required. The parade of antique tractors over the Mackinac Bridge is a sight you won't want to miss! In 2014 we had over 1,000 antique tractors make the crossing of the Mackinac Bridge from Mackinaw City to St. Ignace, Michigan. Tractor parade begins in Mackinaw City, parades across the bridge, through downtown St. Ignace, and ends at Reagon Street. Tractors will then be staged at Little Bear Arena and in select locations in downtown St. Ignace Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Tractors must be a minimum of 40 years old.

Tahquamenon Wilderness Canoe Race

The GREAT RACE from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior; Start the morning with this 17 1/2 mile, two-person professional canoe race as the paddlers brave the waters of the Tahquamenon River from the Lower Tahquamenon Falls to Lake Superior. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race begins at 3:30 at the mouth of the Tahquamenon River. A fun run for amateur paddlers is also offered. MCRA members conclude the event with a banquet and awards program.
