18th Annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman Winter Program

Location: Bay Cliff Health Camp, Big Bay
The BOW program is sponsored by the DNR and offers instruction in more than a dozen different types of indoor and outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing, archery, winter shelter building, ice fishing, photography, wilderness first aid, wood burning, snowshoe and more. Instructors provide basic and advanced teaching that is tailored to each participant's individual ability. Special evening programs also are offered during the weekend. BOW participants stay and take classes at the Bay Cliff Health Camp, a universally accessible facility overlooking Lake Superior, which is situated about 30 miles north of Marquette near Big Bay. Participants will be housed in a dorm-style facility with amenities, including a sauna and hiking trails with access to northern hardwood forests and Lake Superior. The $195 registration fee includes all food and lodging as well as most equipment and supplies, except as noted in the registration materials. Scholarships also are available on a limited basis.

A happy hour ski tour of the Forestville ski trails. This family-friendly event is for all ski abilities and ages, and costumes are encouraged (maybe even a little bit required). The skiing portion of the event will take place on the groomed and scenic terrain on the NTN Forestville ski trails. The “Brew” part of “BrewSki” will be provided by Black Rocks, Ore Dock, Cognition, KBC and Upper Hand Brewing. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, toughest costume to ski in and other categories not including time.

On a quest to find stories with which to entertain his young cohorts in Neverland -- an island refuge for “Lost Boys” -- Peter returns to the real world and meets Wendy, Michael, and John Darling. The Darling children accompany Peter back to the magical Neverland, where they learn to fly, get involved in all sorts of adventures, defeat the evil Captain Hook, and are changed forever.

43rd Annual Pictured Rocks Road Race

The 43rd Annual Pictured Rocks Road Race will be held Sunday June 24, 2018 in the picturesque town of Munising, Michigan, the gateway to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The race features a 1/2 marathon and 10k route that travel along a combination of paved roads and two-track trails. The race starts and ends in the heart of Munising at Bay Shore Park on the southern shores of Lake Superior. From the start you head west out of town on the road towards Tourist Park Campground, at which point you head south onto a two-track road that brings you up onto the hill that overlooks the west side of town. The 10k route cuts back down the hill towards town and Bay Shore Park while the 1/2 marathon continues atop the hill weaving through the surrounding forest until returning back to town down St. Martin's Hill. The 1/2 Marathon course continues across town to Cemetery Hill and tours through the east end of Munising until returning to Bay Shore Park.

Moose on the Loose Fun Run and 5K

This 5K will promote efforts to preserve habitat for the threatened moose throughout Northern Michigan.

The Kids Fun Run will start at 9:30 a.m.! Kids can run a 1 mile race prior to the 5K starting at 10 a.m.

5K Run/Walk: Early registration is just $25 ($30 day-of)
