31st Annual Tahquamenon Education Foundation Golf Fundraiser

There are going to be not only the 4-person golf scramble, but also new games, raffles, a 50/50. You may even putt for a cool $1000, or get a hole in one for a new car.

22nd Annual Antiques on the Bay Classic & Antique Car Show

The first of three auto-related events features original and restored classic and antique vehicles on display along the downtown waterfront. Entertainment and autos dating 25 years or older are all part of the fun. Registration and a Mackinac Bridge Rally are slated for Friday, with autos on display in the City Marina parking lot bordering the Lake Huron waterfront all day Saturday. 29th Annual Kids Fishing Day at Seney National Wildlife Refuge

Join us for Children's Fishing Day - Catch the Excitement! Saturday, June 23rd, 2018, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with the Seney Natural History Association, invites you to participate in the 29th Annual Children’s Fishing Day. On the day of the event young anglers are required to register at the Visitor Center before fishing. Fish entries will be accepted between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Fishing stations will be set up along the Refuge’s Fishing Loop. A limited amount of fishing poles and bait are available for participants to use at these stations. Fishing is allowed from the shore along designated fishing pools and show pools. Lead sinkers are not allowed. Activities and games for the whole family begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center and include arts and crafts, games, and activities. Certificates will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners for largest perch and pike in four age categories. Prizes, provided by local businesses, will be awarded by random drawing. A complimentary fish dinner for all participants and their families will be held at 3:00 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.

43rd Annual Pictured Rocks Road Race

The 43rd Annual Pictured Rocks Road Race will be held Sunday June 24, 2018 in the picturesque town of Munising, Michigan, the gateway to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The race features a 1/2 marathon and 10k route that travel along a combination of paved roads and two-track trails. The race starts and ends in the heart of Munising at Bay Shore Park on the southern shores of Lake Superior. From the start you head west out of town on the road towards Tourist Park Campground, at which point you head south onto a two-track road that brings you up onto the hill that overlooks the west side of town. The 10k route cuts back down the hill towards town and Bay Shore Park while the 1/2 marathon continues atop the hill weaving through the surrounding forest until returning back to town down St. Martin's Hill. The 1/2 Marathon course continues across town to Cemetery Hill and tours through the east end of Munising until returning to Bay Shore Park.

Grand Island Trail Marathon & Half Marathon

Location: Grand Island National Recreation Area
The course follows the perimeter trail of the island counterclockwise up past Murray Bay and Duck Lake. At three miles the course heads eastward into the Tombolo, up into the island's thumb and then back along Trout Bay where runners can enjoy one of the most spectacular stretches of shoreline anywhere in the Great Lakes. Runners then ascend up the eastern cliffs of the island which treat runners to views of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The northern half of the island features 300ft colored Jacobsville sandstone cliffs and the remote and exquisitely beautiful North Beach. The return trail on the island’s western shore features remarkable vistas of Lake Superior. Much of the trail is shaded by lush hardwood forests. Exposed sections (atop cliffs) blanket runners with cool breezes off of Lake Superior. Trail includes single track, two track, and narrow dirt roads.

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park - Battery D Civil War Encampment

History comes alive at Fort Wilkins. Battery D, 1st Michigan Light Artillery, a Civil War era living history group returns to Fort Wilkins for its 31st annual weekend encampment. The weekend event will be open to park visitors from 8 AM to 8 PM on Friday and Saturday and 8 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. Battery D will interpret army life of the period, demonstrating artillery and small arms drills, period cooking and soldiers’ pastimes. A Michigan State or Out of State Recreation Passport is required for entry into the park.

12th Annual Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow

A Rendezvous at the Straits French Voyager Reenactment and Powwow, a family event celebrating the history of the St. Ignace area, will take place at the Father Marquette National Memorial, just off US-2 west of I-75 in St. Ignace. Admission is $4.00 for elders, children 5 and under are free, and $5.00 for everyone else. This is really two events in one -- part French voyager re-enactment and part traditional Powwow. Visit the French encampments, watch demonstrations, visit vendors displaying authentic wares, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Native dancing and drumming ceremonies. Traditional Native American food will be available. Topping off Saturday’s activities will be fireworks over the bay at 10:00 p.m. in downtown St. Ignace!

The bridge walk will begin at 7:00 a.m. This year walkers will have the option of beginning your walk from St. Ignace or Mackinaw City. You will walk to mid-span, then turn around and return to either St. Ignace or Mackinaw City, depending on which location you began your walk at. If you reach mid-span before 10:00 a.m. you will be able to walk the entire bridge! Free parking and shuttle service to the start line in St. Ignace is available at Little Bear East Arena in St. Ignace. If you walk the entire bridge you will be responsible for finding your own transportation back across the bridge.

Fort Wilkins Historic State Park will be holding its 11th Annual Geocaching Event on the Keweenaw Peninsula in Copper Harbor, Michigan on September 9th, 2017. The event will begin with registration starting at 9:00 AM at the Picnic Shelter near the Fort Wilkins parking lot. Geocacher's will be able to find several temporary caches placed at historical, geological, and natural significant sites in and around the State Park.



Geocaching will end at 2:00 PM with a bonfire and hot dog luncheon to follow at 2:30 PM in the Picnic Shelter near the Fort Wilkins parking lot; everyone in the park is welcome. A ticket will be given upon registration where prizes from our local businesses will be drawn after the event and stories about everyone's experience can be told.

Tahquamenon Wilderness Canoe Race

The GREAT RACE from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior; Start the morning with this 17 1/2 mile, two-person professional canoe race as the paddlers brave the waters of the Tahquamenon River from the Lower Tahquamenon Falls to Lake Superior. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race begins at 3:30 at the mouth of the Tahquamenon River. A fun run for amateur paddlers is also offered. MCRA members conclude the event with a banquet and awards program.
