UP 200, Midnight Run & Jack Pine 30

Annual Events
Location: Marquette to Grand Marais
The UP200 is one of America's premier 12-dog, mid-distance sled dog races and draws mushers from around the United States and Canada. The UP200 is an Iditarod qualifying race. Coinciding with the UP200 is the eight-dog Midnight Run, a race from Marquette to Chatham. The Midnight Run, or MNR, draws premier teams wanting to test their skill on a technically challenging trail.






The JackPine 30 rounds out the weekend’s fun with a six-dog, 30-mile sprint from Gwinn, Michigan to Marquette.

Labatt Blue UP Pond Hockey Championship

Join us in 2017 as we celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Labatt Blue UP Pond Hockey Championship in St. Ignace, Michigan. St. Ignace is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, home of one of the largest pond hockey tournaments in North America, and the largest tournament in Michigan. The Labatt Blue UP Pond Hockey Championship will be played on Moran Bay, part of beautiful Lake Huron, one of the only locations where our 'pond' is actually one of the Great Lakes! In 2015 we had 200 teams, from 11 states, play over 320 games! We have several age and skill divisions, so your team can compete against others of the same skill level. Format of the games is: 4 on 4 hockey with NO GOALIES on thirty 75 'x 150' outside rinks with snow bank boards played on the 'wild ice' of Moran Bay in Lake Huron. Teams are guaranteed three games, and division winners will receive Labatt's sportsgear and a hardwood championship cup.

Explore the Governor’s Summer Residence on Mackinac Island each Wednesday from June 1 to August 31. Built in 1902 as a private summer cottage by Lawrence A. Young, it has served as the Governor’s summer Residence since 1945. The residence was listed in the Michigan Register of Historic Places in October 1975. In November 1997, the house was named to the National Register of Historic Places, the official list of America’s most historic buildings and sites. Throughout this free tour, which lasts approximately 15 minutes, experienced docents will guide small groups through the first floor of the home.

9th Annual Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon

The course consists of a 50 kilometer and 50 mile event. Also, new this year the course will include a loop from the new start-finish area (NTN-Forestville Trailhead) to Tourist Park (the old start-finish area) on new single-track. The course is mostly single-track climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the World, Bareback, and Hogsback outcrops. All the peaks have views of Lake Superior and some of the trail runs along the lake. Most of the trail is easy to moderate running with a few significant climbs and technical areas.
Also new this year is the Ultramarathon Relay - form a team and run the trails Friday before the solo event on Saturday, more details on our website.

60th Annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk

Join thousands of walkers and make the five-mile trek across the Mighty Mackinac Bridge! This annual trek occurs on Labor Day, the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace until 2:30 p.m. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. No one will be permitted to start walking after 11:00 a.m.





To alleviate some of the parking congestion at the Bridge View Park area, the Mackinac Bridge Authority, in cooperation with the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, is providing FREE shuttle service from Little Bear East Arena, 275 Marquette Street in St. Ignace, to the bridge walk start line. Shuttles will make continuous circuits from Little Bear East Arena to the Bridge View Park and back between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For more information visit www.stignace.com
