Bay de Noc Home Run

The event features a competitive 10 and 5K run, a 5k non-competitive walk and a 200 and 400 meter kid’s dash. The event also features a food tent and a free bounce tent for young kids. Children's Fishing Day at Seney National Wildlife Refuge

Join us for Children's Fishing Day - Catch the Excitement! Saturday, June 27th, 2015, the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in cooperation with the Seney Natural History Association, invites you to participate in the 26th Annual Children’s Fishing Day. On the day of the event young anglers are required to register at the Visitor Center before fishing. Fish entries will be accepted between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Fishing stations will be set up along the Refuge’s Fishing Loop. A limited amount of fishing poles and bait are available for participants to use at these stations. Fishing is allowed from the shore along designated fishing pools and show pools. Lead sinkers are not allowed. Activities and games for the whole family begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center and include arts and crafts, games, and activities. Certificates will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners for largest perch and pike in four age categories. Prizes, provided by local businesses, will be awarded by random drawing. A complimentary fish dinner for all participants and their families will be held at 3:00 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.

39th Annual Pictured Rocks Road Race

For both the competitive runner and a those who want to walk the course, this event boasts some of the most beautiful scenery, the Rockin' Awards unique to any race we know of, and a spagetti dinner pre race and pizzas in the park with the aware ceremony. We hope you'll join us! Half Marathon: Ridges, woods, waterfalls, streams, and lake views characterize this unique well-marked course. The route includes hilly paved roads and forested trails. Also included is a run up legendary “Stink Hill.” (Walk part way, if you must!) This challenging course has motivated many runners to return year after year. 5Km: The 5K course traverses a rolling, mostly paved route through downtown Munising and some residential areas. Runners will experience views of Lake Superior, Munising Harbor, and the Pictured Rocks Cruises boat dock as they move through Bay Shore Park.

26th Annual North Country 100 Bike Race

Location: Sunday Lake, Wakefield
Riders will travel over rolling terrain, past lakes and forests and enjoy the wildflowers and scenery of the Upper Peninsula. Routes for the 100 mile and 100 kilometer are designed with more experienced riders in mind. The 25 mile route follows a moderate terrain. All three tours are open to any rider aged 12 and older, so riders should keep in mind their own limits. Check Point/Aid stations will be provided along the route, upon return a meal will be available. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All riders are required to have helmets.





100 Mile Tour - Must be registered before July 13, 2013 and a minimum of 10 riders required to hold the 100 Mile Tour.

Since the first Mackinac Race in 1925, Bayview Yacht Club has hosted this spectacular annual fresh water event which has attracted intrepid sailors from around the globe. The first fleet of only nine boats was battered by strong winds and only three finished. Today, Bayview hosts more than two hundred fifty racing yachts for the annual trek from Port Huron to Mackinac Island. Whether sailing the traditional shore course or the longer Cove Island or South Hampton course, it is an exciting and challenging adventure and sailors must face every conceivable type of challenge mother nature can present. From big waves and high wind to black flies and intolerable heat, the sailors press on to finish yet another Mackinac Race.

Grand Island Trail Marathon & Half Marathon

Location: Grand Island National Recreation Area
The course follows the perimeter trail of the island counterclockwise up past Murray Bay and Duck Lake. At three miles the course heads eastward into the Tombolo, up into the island's thumb and then back along Trout Bay where runners can enjoy one of the most spectacular stretches of shoreline anywhere in the Great Lakes. Runners then ascend up the eastern cliffs of the island which treat runners to views of the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The northern half of the island features 300ft colored Jacobsville sandstone cliffs and the remote and exquisitely beautiful North Beach. The return trail on the island’s western shore features remarkable vistas of Lake Superior. Much of the trail is shaded by lush hardwood forests. Exposed sections (atop cliffs) blanket runners with cool breezes off of Lake Superior. Trail includes single track, two track, and narrow dirt roads.

7th Annual Marquette Trail 50K Team Relay

The course consists of a 50 kilometer and 50 mile event. Also, new this year the course will include a loop from the new start-finish area (NTN-Forestville Trailhead) to Tourist Park (the old start-finish area) on new single-track. The course is mostly single-track climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the World, Bareback, and Hogsback outcrops. All the peaks have views of Lake Superior and some of the trail runs along the lake. Most of the trail is easy to moderate running with a few significant climbs and technical areas.
Also new this year is the Ultramarathon Relay - form a team and run the trails Friday before the solo event on Saturday, more details on our website.

Friends of Indian Lake State Park Annual Fishing Tournament

Registration will begin on August 12 at the camp host site with final registration at 8:00 A.M. on August 15th at the tournament headquarters located at the boat launch. $10.00 entry fee ages 15 and over. A short meeting at 7:45 prior to start time along with all boats no matter where they have been launched will be inspected. Trophies to the first place winners in each category, along with prizes for 2nd- 3rd place winners. Each adult will be given a free ticket for a chance at a number of raffle prizes that will be available. There will be a special raffle for the youth division. Each participating youth will receive a free ticket. Additional tickets may be purchased prior to the raffle drawing for the adult raffle. Awarding of Prizes will be at 5:30 P.M.

The race will consist of a 400 meter swim in the Quarry, a 15 mile bike ride, and a 5k run. All portions of the race will be within the city limit. All participants who finish will receive a Finisher's Medal. The awards to be presented will be 1st & 2nd place- top male, top female, age groups (by 10 yrs). The 9th Annual Great Deer Chase mountain bike race will be held on August 16 at the Swedetown Trail system off Swedetown Road in Calumet. Rendezvous at the Straits Powwow

A Rendezvous at the Straits French Voyager Reenactment and Powwow, a family event celebrating the history of the St. Ignace area, will take place Friday, August 21, through Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Father Marquette National Memorial, just off US-2 west of I-75 in St. Ignace. Admission is $4 for adults daily or $5 for both days, $3 for elders daily or $4 for the weekend, and children 5 and under are free. This is really two events in one -- part French voyager re-enactment and part traditional Powwow. Visit the French encampments, watch demonstrations, visit vendors displaying authentic wares, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Native dancing and drumming ceremonies. Traditional Native American food will be available. The blessing of the grounds will take place Friday, August 21, at 12:00 p.m. Grand Entrance will be at 12:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. This family event is to be alcohol and drug free.

58th Annual Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk

Join thousands of walkers and make the five-mile trek across the Mighty Mackinac Bridge! This annual trek occurs on Labor Day, the only day of the year pedestrians are allowed on the bridge. Walkers begin in St. Ignace at the north end of the Bridge and walk south. The walk is one-way, and bus transportation is available to return you to St. Ignace until 2:30 p.m. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. No one will be permitted to start walking after 11:00 a.m.





To alleviate some of the parking congestion at the Bridge View Park area, the Mackinac Bridge Authority, in cooperation with the St. Ignace Chamber of Commerce, is providing FREE shuttle service from Little Bear East Arena, 275 Marquette Street in St. Ignace, to the bridge walk start line. Shuttles will make continuous circuits from Little Bear East Arena to the Bridge View Park and back between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For more information visit www.stignace.com

In the celtic world, Samhain marks the end of summer and the beginning of the new year or winter and a time to commemorate the souls of the blessed dead. With the rise of Christianity, it was changed to Halloween and remains a joyous time of family reunion. Here on Mackinac, we celebrate both traditions. Have fun with the kids Trick or Treating downtown, Haunts of Mackinac Tour and then gear up for some great grown up Halloween parties at the downtown pubs.
The Island shops work hard to clear out their inventory with great discounts and sales. Be sure to browse on Main Street, Market Street and at the shops at Grand Hotel. This makes a perfect weekend to skip out on Black Friday and get a head start on holiday shopping.

The Great Pumpkin Roll and Trunk or Treat

The Great Pumpkin Roll begins at 4pm. Start off by purchasing your "rolling pumpkin" and then race it down the hill toward a barrel for bragging rights like no other! Then off to Trunk or Treat at 6pm behind the Quality Inn-St. Ignace/Big Boy. See all the ghoulish car trunks while parents pass out candy. Kid's prizes for best costume, scariest costume and most original costume will be given. Ride the hay wagon to the Haunted Woods where games and music will complete your fun, along with a tour of the Haunted Woods!
