Gold Wing Road Riders Midnight Ride

Annual Events
Location: Grand Rapids to St Ignace
When midnight strikes in Grand Rapids, the journey to downtown St. Ignace begins, with bikers joining the ride throughout the night enroute to the Mackinac Bridge. Don’t miss Saturday evening’s Parade of Lights! The annual ride raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A little history…. Since 1986, members of chapter Mi-G of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association decided that it was too hot to ride during the day. They talked it over and figured that it would be better (and cooler) if they took their ride at night. Their destination, they decided, would be the Mackinac Bridge. They called some friends and on the third Friday in August 1986, started out on what was later to become known as the Midnight Ride.

Mackinac Island Halloween (Samhain) Weekend

Annual Events
Location: Mackinac Island

In the celtic world, Samhain marks the end of summer and the beginning of the new year or winter and a time to commemorate the souls of the blessed dead. With the rise of Christianity, it was changed to Halloween and remains a joyous time of family reunion. Here on Mackinac, we celebrate both traditions. Have fun with the kids Trick or Treating downtown, Haunts of Mackinac Tour and then gear up for some great grown up Halloween parties at the downtown pubs.
The Island shops work hard to clear out their inventory with great discounts and sales. Be sure to browse on Main Street, Market Street and at the shops at Grand Hotel. This makes a perfect weekend to skip out on Black Friday and get a head start on holiday shopping.
