UP 200, Midnight Run & Jack Pine 30

Annual Events
Location: Marquette to Grand Marais
The UP200 is one of America's premier 12-dog, mid-distance sled dog races and draws mushers from around the United States and Canada. The UP200 is an Iditarod qualifying race. Coinciding with the UP200 is the eight-dog Midnight Run, a race from Marquette to Chatham. The Midnight Run, or MNR, draws premier teams wanting to test their skill on a technically challenging trail.






The JackPine 30 rounds out the weekend’s fun with a six-dog, 30-mile sprint from Gwinn, Michigan to Marquette.

24th Annual Trenary Outhouse Classic

Contestants build outhouses out of wood or cardboard and mount the structures on a pair of skis. The object is to be the fastest two-person team to push an outhouse 500 feet down the street. Registration through 1:00 p.m. Race, 2:00 p.m.

78th Annual Pine Mountain Ski Jumping Tournament

2017 Will be the 78th Anniversary Ski Jump Tournament. Stayed tuned for updates and special events associated with this event. Pine Mountain Ski Jump hosts world class athletes from all over the world in this Continental Cup competition. Official practice runs are on Friday with competition jumps on Saturday and Sunday. Join thousands of fans at the bottom of the hill for the largest tailgate party of the winter!!

9th Annual Marquette Trail 50 Ultramarathon

Location: Marquette

The course consists of a 50 kilometer and 50 mile event. Also, new this year the course will include a loop from the new start-finish area (NTN-Forestville Trailhead) to Tourist Park (the old start-finish area) on new single-track. The course is mostly single-track climbing the 4 peaks: Sugarloaf, Top-of-the World, Bareback, and Hogsback outcrops. All the peaks have views of Lake Superior and some of the trail runs along the lake. Most of the trail is easy to moderate running with a few significant climbs and technical areas.
Also new this year is the Ultramarathon Relay - form a team and run the trails Friday before the solo event on Saturday, more details on our website.
