Au Sable Day 2014
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore announces Au Sable Day, Saturday, September 20, 11 am - 4 pm. The day includes free disabled accessible bus shuttle service to the lighthouse from the lower Hurricane River Campground, tours of the light station and fog signal building, and refreshments.
Visitors riding the free ALTRAN shuttle bus should board at the Hurricane River bridge or lower campground parking lots. Hurricane River Campground is 12 miles west of Grand Marais, MI on Alger County H-58.
The Au Sable Light Station was constructed in 1874, and has shone its light to guide mariners for over 138 years.
Au Sable Day also celebrates Public Lands Day, an annual appreciation of federal lands open to all for a variety of recreation, renewal, and education. Join us for a beautiful fall color day looking out over Lake Superior!

2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ - Marquette County
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s™ is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s unites the entire community — family, friends, co-workers, social and religious groups and more --- in a display of combined strength and dedication in the fight against this devastating disease. While there is no fee to register, each participant is expected to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness. The Alzheimer’s Association provides free, easy-to-use tools and staff support to help each participant reach their fundraising goal.

UPDSA's 4th Annual Buddy Walk
This is the Upper Peninsula Down Syndrome Associations only yearly fund raiser. Join us for a fun family event including a bounce house & slide for the children along with face painting and clowns making balloon animals. For the adults there are bucket raffles, 50/50 drawing and silent auction items. For everyone there will be a one mile awareness walk at 1:00pm, and lunch is included with registration. Adults (15 & up) $15, youth (4-14) $10, 3 and under are free. T-shirts are provided on a first come first serve basis. NMU Family Weekend 2014
NMU Family Weekend is a time for you to feel a part of your student's college experience at Northern Michigan University. The schedule of events includes a variety of activities for your family to enjoy and it also allows for informal time with your son or daughter.
The City and Downtown Development Authority will host a large-scale community outdoor performance of giant puppetry, percussion and theatrical dance. Ravens on skates, zombie folk dancers, stilt walking spirits, a life-size dragon and skeleton marching band are just a few of the enchanted characters. As the evening grows dark, the community is invited to join in processions throughout the City converging in the Marquette Commons to witness Marquette's enchanting Halloween Spectacle.

Grand Marais Pilots Association will host the 15th Annual Splash-in on Grand Marais Bay on behalf of the National Seaplane Pilots Association. Seaplanes from all over the US and Canada are invited to attend this three day festival with arrivals on Friday, activities and competitions throughout the day on Saturday and departures on Sunday morning.
The public is invited to attend this colorful event; get a close up look at the many sea planes, talk with pilots, and enjoy a beautiful day on the beach. Bring lots of suntan lotion and plan to spend Saturday with us.
