Thomas Rock Scenic Overlook (formerly Gobbler's Knob)
Big Bay, From Marquette take CR 550 approximately 23miles to CR 510 (about 2.5 miles before Big Bay), turn left (south) onto CR 510, go approximately 1 mile on CR510 for entrance and parking on the right.
Take an easy hike on the universally accessible trail through the woods to the top of Thomas Rock and view the wonders of Lake superior and the surrounding wilderness . Lake Superior is the largest fresh-water lake in the world by area and holds 10% of the world’s surface fresh water. This scenic lookout also has a grand view looking west to the Keweenaw Peninsula and east to Granite Island . The nature trail features interpretive signs identify a variety of wildflowers, trees, wildlife and plants along the trail. Spring has an explosion of wild flowers and Fall brings on the spectacular beauty of natures brilliant colors. Picnic tables and restrooms are extra amenities.
