The Mineral Museum of the Great Lakes Region and Michigan’s official State Mineral Museum, the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum of Michigan Tech is one of North America's great mineral museums. The museum showcases amazing minerals from around the world. Highlights of the exhibits include the largest public display of minerals from the Great Lakes Region, the world's best collection of Michigan Minerals, one of the best fluorescent mineral exhibits in the United States, and a world-record 17-ton native copper slab recovered from the bottomlands of Lake Superior.  Outstanding minerals are on exhibit from the University of Michigan's mineral collection which is held by the museum under the Michigan Mineral Alliance. Learn about how minerals form and the importance of minerals to modern society while experiencing the splendor and beauty of minerals. The museum gift shop offers a diverse suite of Earth products from around the world but especially from the Upper Peninsula. The museum is a Heritage site of Keweenaw National Historical Park.
