FJ Mclain State Park/Hiking & Ski Trail
Situated in the heart of the Keweenaw Peninsula on beautiful Lake Superior and is centrally located between the cities of Calumet and Hancock. The park offers two miles of sand beach on Lake Superior. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of activities in the park: fishing, windsurfing, berry picking, beachcombing, rock hounding, sight-seeing and hunting. The sunsets at McLain State Park are spectacular and the view of the lighthouse is magnificent.
McLain Hiking/Ski Trail: 4 miles - Cross Country Ski, Hiking
Beautiful ice formations along the shores of Lake Superior attract skiers to McLain State Park. Spectacular lakeview scenery is the specialty of this trail. Terrain varies from flat open expanses to woods and hills. No true track is set, but the trail is smoothed as needed. The 2k East Loop is easy to intermediate and the 4k West Loop is easy.
