Tahquamenon Falls State Park - Lantern Lit Snowshoe Trail

Location: Tahquamenon Falls State Park, Paradise
Kick off Michigan State Park's centennial celebration with a hike/shoe on the one mile lantern-lit trail at the Upper Falls! The trail is illuminated with over 70 kerosene lanterns and loops through the beautiful winter forest. The trail begins and ends near the Upper Falls trail head located at the end of the Upper Falls parking area, there will be a limited number of snowshoes available to borrow and there is no pre-registration required. Please no winter boots as they poke holes in the packed trail. This event may be canceled if temperatures/wind chills are -10 degrees or below. Tahquamenon Falls State Park - Guided Snowshoe Hike

Mackinac State Historic Parks - Twilight Turtle Trek

Mackinac Island Turtle Trek - A lantern-lit ski and snowshoeing trek through some of Mackinac Island's natural winter wonderland. The trail begins at Greaney Grove (corner of Arch Rock Road and Huron Road) with a bonfire and hot chocolate. The trail is groomed, track set, lit by lanterns and approximately two miles long. This is a free event sponsored by Mackinac State Historic Parks, Mackinac Island Community Foundation and the Mackinac Island Ski Club.

Straits State Park - Winter Family Fun Day

Location: Straits State Park, St. Ignace
Get outside this evening to enjoy the beauty of winter with a self-guided lantern-lit snowshoe hike along the park trail to the lower campground with amazing Mighty Mac Bridge views. There will be warming fires on each end of the trail, and complimentary hot chocolate and s'mores will be available. There is a limited supply of snowshoes available to borrow, and parking is located at the parking area near the park entrance. If there is a lack of snow, the event will still proceed along the hiking trail to the lake. A Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry into Michigan state parks.

2019 Soo Locks Engineers Day

It’s the event that started it all – the one day when you can walk across the mighty Soo Locks walls and explore the buildings and special exhibits open only on this day – the last Friday in June. Engineer’s Day festivities are held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The gates are open to allow visitors to explore on their own self-guided tours across the Locks and into historically important structures (Davis Building and the Administration Building) used solely for the work of one of the world’s busiest lock systems.

Tahquamenon Wilderness Canoe Race

The GREAT RACE from the Lower Falls to Lake Superior; Start the morning with this 17 1/2 mile, two-person professional canoe race as the paddlers brave the waters of the Tahquamenon River from the Lower Tahquamenon Falls to Lake Superior. A shorter (6 1/2 mile) one-person race begins at 3:30 at the mouth of the Tahquamenon River. A fun run for amateur paddlers is also offered. MCRA members conclude the event with a banquet and awards program.
