Marquette Regional History Center presents: Special Exhibit “Women’s Work is Never Done”

This exhibit looks at specific women in our community from the past and present, both housewives and servants, telling their tales in their own words. It explores a pioneer in the mid-1800s, a Victorian in Marquette in the late 1880s, a farmer’s wife during the Depression and more. Artifacts on display will include a variety of household appliances and tools as well as elegant and everyday handwork from the 1850s to the 1970s.

18th Annual Becoming an Outdoors Woman Winter Program

Location: Bay Cliff Health Camp, Big Bay
The BOW program is sponsored by the DNR and offers instruction in more than a dozen different types of indoor and outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing, archery, winter shelter building, ice fishing, photography, wilderness first aid, wood burning, snowshoe and more. Instructors provide basic and advanced teaching that is tailored to each participant's individual ability. Special evening programs also are offered during the weekend. BOW participants stay and take classes at the Bay Cliff Health Camp, a universally accessible facility overlooking Lake Superior, which is situated about 30 miles north of Marquette near Big Bay. Participants will be housed in a dorm-style facility with amenities, including a sauna and hiking trails with access to northern hardwood forests and Lake Superior. The $195 registration fee includes all food and lodging as well as most equipment and supplies, except as noted in the registration materials. Scholarships also are available on a limited basis.

26th Annual Trenary Outhouse Classic

Midwinter Roots Music Festival

Avocational Archeology with Jim Paquette

Learn how this non-professional archeologist who strove to "do it right," made major contributions to Michigan's archeological record, by revisiting Jim’s discoveries at the 10,000 year old Gorto Site and the ca.1630s Goose Lake Outlet #3 Site. The Dan Hornbogen Memorial ski race is a very unique opportunity to showcase your versatility as a racer with 4 separate events in one day! 1 run each of Downhill, Super-G, GS and Slalom.
