Stormy Kromer Factory Tours
George "Stormy" Kromer was a man's man - a semi-pro baseball player and railroad engineer. He was tough, and while that earned him his cloudy nickname, it doesn't mean he was comfortable with the freezing wind stealing his cap as he steered his locomotive. In 1903 he asked his wife, Ida, to sew some earflaps on one of the few baseball caps he had left and a legend was born. This official unofficial cap of the U.P. has been proudly manufactured in Ironwood since 2001. Stop in year-round for a free factory tour and see how our caps and apparel are made. Monday-Friday at 1:30 pm; large tour groups by appointment. Located 1 block off US-2.
