Ranked among the top-rated trail systems in the world, the Copper Harbor Mountain Bike Trails are designated as Silver Level "Ride Center" by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA). Copper Harbor's mountain bike friendly community showcases a variety of gateway, cross-country, flow and gravity trails, with its services and accommodations located in close proximity. The local bike shop has mountain bike rental and a downhill shuttle service, and the micro-brewery is a favorite post-ride hangout.
The riding in Copper Harbor is REAL mountain biking and is truly unique for the Midwest. A series of rocky undulating ridges and valleys punctuate the area and are highlighted with old growth forests, pristine inland lakes and streams, historic locations, mountain top vistas and rugged Lake Superior shoreline. Natural surface singletrack trails wind over bedrock and hard packed surfaces with sustained climbs and descents. The trails are also known for their extensive cedar planked boardwalks and bridges.
