The skies aren’t the only things that thunder in late March-May. The more our snow melts, the louder our rivers rumble and roar down precipices and rocky inclines. Plan to hike in to most of our 150 named waterfalls. Dress for spring’s quick weather changes and wear boots.
Only have a couple days to go waterfalling? Concentrate your viewing to Alger County. Munising Falls (M28 to Sand Point Road junction) is one of the easiest to reach. Even if there’ a late snow, it’s ice formations are beautiful. Wagner Falls is another easy hike. It’s located on the east side of M94, south of the M28/M94 junction. Or visit Sable Falls on M58. Continue hiking on the trail – the Grand Sable Dunes are incredible.
